Apparently there's to be a musical of The Monkees hits, along the same lines as Mamma Mia! and We Will Rock You. Although I'm not a fan of these sort of musicals, and wouldn't really like to see actors singing S&G songs to a flimsy plot, it does seem that it would be a very easy thing to construct one since so many of Paul and Art's songs are or could be biographical.
http://hallofthewendigo.informe.com/forum/the-music-room-f40/mamma-mia-we-will-rock-you-etc-t3865.html

Maybe a biopic would be less bad.

Forum: S/G Various

Stress less: Here’s how

Does it seem like your demanding life is starting to get the better of you? Do not let it. If anxiety was a disease, it might be said that it has reached epidemic proportions in the US, and probably world-wide. The problem is that people, especially women, do not know the best way to deal with it properly. Try teaching yourself. Here are a few key reasons for anxiety and how to treat them. Locate the article here: Stress less: Here’s how

Things left undone

One major trigger of stress is the idea that you do not have enough time to get everything done you needs to do. However, according to Robert Leahy, Ph.D., author of The Worry Cure, "Time pressure is almost always artificially created, and a lot of people never notice the things that go undone." Do not worry if your bookshelves are not dusted or there are some toys scattered around the floor. True friends won’t care and husbands do not generally notice.

Appearances can be deceiving

Another thing women often anxiety about is their physical appearance. We all want to look our best, but we often expend a ton of time and effort that is entirely unnecessary. Try making things easier on yourself. Julien Farel, a New York City hairstylist, proposes, "A shaggy style with a ton of layers, or any short haircut are the very best styles for a low-maintenance and flattering look.”

Things that don't matter

Stress will never entirely go away, and that is as it should be. Pressure and that sense of tension is what helps push us through to the end of big projects or gives us that adrenaline rush that can spark off great ideas. Just do not anxiety about the stuff that doesn’t matter. You can live by the maxim, “This too, shall pass.”

Source

Women's Health Magazine

Forum: Community

Paul newman camps concert

Monday april 2 2012 Went to Lincoln Center for the former Hole in the Wall Camps Association fundraiser concert-they have changed name to seriousfun for kids-was it last year I went for James Taylor and Art? Or maybe two years ago. Paul was almost the last singer- he sang SOS and Julio. Optimist that I was that night, I almost hyperventilated when Paul came out onto the stage. There were two mikes there, one short and one TALL! I had been saying to myself (as a prompt to go) that Art lives quite nearby and maybe now that he was singing again, perhaps a surprise S&G song? Well, Paul sang SOS with a few beginning quips which I did not hear (think something about what the audience wanted to hear him play?) and then towards the close of the song he kept looking off to the wings and I saw a figure there. Heart was pounding....But then Paul introduced Mark Stewart and they both played the guitar for Julio and sort of had a duel playing faster and faster at one point during the song. Not sure if Mark sang or not-but he never came near the mike! So I kept hoping there was to be third song and Art. But no, sadly not. Paul wore a grey looking suit jacket unbuttoned and matching pants (buttoned I assume!), with a white dress shirt open at neck and not tucked into the pants, no tie and no head wear-could not see feet. Brown guitar I think. Mark had his usual pinkish pants and a tapestry looking shirt-no standing ovations this time but a "we love you paul yelled out".

Both songs were quite different-SOS real slow, very quiet, no emphasis on any of the words and no audience ripple to the 10 thousand people maybe more. I think at one point he stopped playing the quitar and spoke a line, but not certain anymore. Julio was less dramatic in the singing and more on the guitar playing and Paul rocking back and forth from one foot to the other while playing against Mark-song seemed to me to have less high notes-

Forum: Paul Simon Concerts
